New Years: Stop, then go

Is this not a very happily situated
STOP sign?

I have been thinking about how at the beginning of a new year we stop, then go ahead with it, unable to pause for more than a... well, unable to pause at all really.

This past weekend was the last of the year, but a weekend of firsts.

I skied at Alta for the first time with Claire, who was visiting.

I read a book by John Green, recommended long ago by students at Richmond High School.

I bought hiking boots on KSL.

I made Irish coffee. (I drank it before photographing?)

I ate Shakshuka with my mother and Claire.

I created a study guide for ESL learners to use while reading Animal Farm

I created a personal budget and analyzed my finances for December; my only goal for 2018 is to continue this practice so that I may answer questions like "Do you spend more money than you make?" and "How much did you spend on groceries this month?" (This responsible behavior was inspired by Claire, who does the same.)

Here's to a new year full of new experiences, and lots of comfy old ones too, like taking in the view of the snowy mountains, which I will never tire of photographing.
