Short stories, read aloud

When I was little I listened to books on tape almost everyday. I had a snazzy black plastic briefcase that had ridges designed to hold cassettes, and that's where Dunc and Amos, and Ramona Quimby, and the Wind and the Willows, and Arabian Nights lived, until I took one out to put in our double deck tape player.

Still today I love listening to stories recorded. Two podcasts I like are the Guardian Short Stories Podcast and the New Yorker Fiction podcast.

Last night, I listened to one.

You know you need to go for a walk when you're looking at your students Facebook photos... which I found myself doing last night, smiling at their lives outside of school.

I walked to the cultural palace, on top of a hill, and passed walled compounds bursting with bougainvillea, the Arabic name for which is "crazy".

The sunset was also delightful.



The short story was excellent.
